Turning the Soil for the

Future at Kildare College

There are moments in the life of a school that feel different. Moments that ask us to pause, to take it in, and to recognise that something important is unfolding.

Over the holidays, the Lightbridge Centre site has continued to come to life. What was once so familiar now holds a new sense of anticipation. Each visit brings a quiet excitement about what this will become for our students.

On Tuesday 5 May 2026, we gathered as a community for the Turning of the Soil Ceremony. This was a beautiful and significant moment in the story of Kildare College. As we celebrate 60 years since our beginning with just 32 students, it felt fitting that we marked the next chapter on the very ground where so much of our history has been held.

There was a sense of awe and excitement throughout the ceremony. Uncle Mickey’s Smoking Ceremony invited us to listen and to honour the story of the land. Father John’s blessing grounded us in faith and hope. Together, we stood in gratitude for all that has come before, and with confidence in what lies ahead.

The Lightbridge Centre will not simply be a building. It will be a place where creativity is nurtured, wellbeing is strengthened, and young women come to know who they are and who they are becoming.

This is a special time for Kildare. And we are just getting started.
