and out and about!

Our Student Engagement Leaders in Action!

Our Student Engagement Leaders (SEL) Committee have been hard at work behind the scenes, planning and organising a range of exciting initiatives for the LPPS community.

These dedicated students play an important role in making our school a fun, inclusive and engaging place for everyone. Recently, they have implemented a roster system for selling ANZAC badges across the school, supporting this important commemoration with responsibility and respect.

The team is also busy preparing for several upcoming events and initiatives, including:

  • Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
  • Jump Rope for Heart
  • ANZAC Day badge sales
  • A special Mother’s Day event in Term 2

Further information about these events—particularly the Mother’s Day celebration—will be shared with families soon, so please keep an eye out for updates.

Being part of the SEL Committee provides students with valuable opportunities to develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication and organisation. These experiences empower them to take initiative and make meaningful contributions to our school community.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and leadership our SELs demonstrate as they help build a connected, vibrant and supportive school environment.

INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION

Cheerleading tends to be associated with American sports, however is gaining popularity in Australia. In particular for one of LPPS Year 6 students. Millie H and her team, “Miss Redbacks” at Evolve All Stars in Cranbourne West have been chosen to represent Australia in cheerleading over in Florida at a prestigious event called "Youth Summit" where teams from all over the world come together to battle it out for their country. What a wonderful opportunity for all the dedication you have shown.

Millie and her team will fly to the USA on the 21st April and compete from the 23rd to the 24th April before returning to Australia. Millie will be staying at Disney Sports, Disney Music and compete at Disney World. There is also a party being held at one of the theme parks where they open it up just for the cheerleaders. Millie also has the opportunity to visit Universal Studios and then finish with a tour around LA before returning to Australia.

Congratulations on being selected to represent your country Millie, we wish you and your team all the best, good luck. Create unforgettable memories and we look forward to hearing about your experience upon your return.

Easter egg & Easter bunny foil recycling

Great job to everyone so far who has bought in wrappers for our Easter egg foil recycling competition!

Aluminium foil is recyclable, only if it is rolled into a ball the size of a tennis ball, otherwise it is too light and flies off the conveyor belt at the recycling plant.

To get involved in the competition carefully peel your Easter egg and bunny foil and keep it in one flat piece, bring this into your class and add it to your class container. We will make them into balls and weigh them to measure our recycling efforts.

Competition will close the second week of Term 2.

Once the competition has ended you can keep recycling in your household - simply roll your clean aluminium foil into a ball. When it is larger than a tennis ball size you can put it into your curb side recycling bin.

Good luck from the STEM Leaders – Abigail and Stevie, and Mrs Chidlow.

Jump Rope for Heart – Don’t Forget to JUMP!

Our students have been busy skipping, hopping and jumping their way through our Jump Rope for Heart activities—and what a fantastic effort it has been!

So far, our school community has raised an amazing $637.00 to support the life-saving work of the Heart Foundation. This is a wonderful achievement, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm and energy our students have shown.

A friendly reminder to keep the momentum going—don’t forget to JUMP! Every skip counts towards building healthy hearts while raising funds for an important cause.

Thank you to our students and families for your ongoing support. Let’s keep jumping and see how much more we can raise together!

Foundation Incursion- Pro Activity

Our prep students recently enjoyed an exciting incursion with Proactivity, who visited our school to deliver a fun and engaging session focused on building confidence, teamwork and positive behaviours.

Through a range of interactive activities and games, students explored important skills such as listening, cooperation and having a go. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students challenged themselves, encouraged their peers and celebrated their achievements.

Experiences like this provide valuable opportunities for our youngest learners to develop social skills in a supportive and energetic environment. A big thank you to Proactivity for delivering such an enjoyable and meaningful session for our Prep students!

Grade 2 Excursion- Balnarring Beach and the Hasting Dolphine Research Centre.

Our Grade 2 students recently enjoyed a fantastic excursion to Balnarring Beach and the Hastings Dolphin Research Institute, where they explored local marine environments and learned more about the incredible wildlife along our coastline.

Throughout the day, students participated in hands-on activities, discovering fascinating facts about dolphins, marine life and the importance of protecting our oceans. The beach component was a definite highlight, with students eagerly exploring rock pools and observing coastal habitats up close.

As you can imagine, there were plenty of wet shoes by the end of the day! A big thank you to the families who read the communication and ensured students had a spare pair of shoes or crocs—this made a big difference in keeping everyone comfortable for the journey home.

It was a wonderful day of learning, curiosity and outdoor adventure for our Grade 2 students!
