Short Stay Students in Religion

This term, we were delighted to welcome our Short Stay students into Stage 4 Religion classes. Their participation enriched classroom discussions, providing valuable opportunities for students to learn from one another and share diverse perspectives and experiences. Through collaborative activities and thoughtful conversations, students built connections, deepened their understanding of faith and values, and fostered a greater appreciation for the richness of our global community. We thank our Short Stay students for their enthusiastic involvement and the positive contributions they made to our learning environment.

Kindy Red: Exploring Shapes

Kindy Red kicked off the term with an exciting hands-on exploration of 2D shapes through a range of fun, interactive learning stations. The students made shapes with playdough, created designs on geoboards, drew pictures using different shapes, and used tessellating shapes to create colourful shape masterpieces. It was a fantastic way to build shape knowledge while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork!

Year 10 Food Tech participated in functional properties of food and fermentation

Year 10 Food Technology became FOOD SCIENTISTS today! Forget textbooks Mrs Botros and year 10 Food Technology learned functional properties of food by MAKING it!

Aeration + Gelatinisation → Fluffy marshmallows made from scratch, that later became rocky road filling.

Emulsification → Silky homemade mayonnaise that didn’t split

Dextrinization → Perfect golden toast and the science behind that crunch

Fermentation → Our own focaccia, bubbling with flavour and gut-friendly benefits

From sugary clouds to tangy mayo to fresh-baked bread... this class proved that science tastes amazing. Service with a smile AND with a hypothesis. They didn’t just follow recipes. They understood the why behind every bubble, rise, and golden crust.

Cultural Inspired Art in Year 1

Our Chinese exchange teacher visited 1 Silver and helped students create beautiful paper-cutting artworks. A fun and creative learning experience for everyone!

Year 7 and 8 Students Reflect on the Life of St John Vianney

On the feast day of St John Vianney, our Year 7 and 8 students participated in a special Religion lesson dedicated to learning about the life, faith, and ministry of this beloved saint. Known as the patron saint of parish priests, St John Vianney's commitment to prayer, service, and compassion continues to inspire Catholics around the world.

As part of the lesson, students were privileged to view a relic of St John Vianney, providing a unique opportunity to connect with the rich traditions of the Church and reflect on the significance of relics in Catholic faith. The experience encouraged students to deepen their understanding of sainthood and consider how the virtues demonstrated by St John Vianney can be lived out in their own daily lives.

The lesson was a meaningful way to celebrate his feast day and offered students a memorable opportunity to engage with an important figure in the Church's history.

Year 1 Sydney Zoo

Year 1 had a fun time at Sydney Zoo! 🦁🐒 We loved seeing so many amazing animals and learning fun facts about them. Our visit helped us with the informative texts we've been writing in class, and it was exciting to see our favourite animals up close. We had a fantastic day filled with learning, laughter and adventure!

Kindy Red Gets Coding! 

Kindy Red had lots of fun learning about coding and directions using Bee-Bots! The children programmed their Bee-Bots to move through different paths, practising their problem-solving, sequencing and teamwork skills along the way. 

Kindy Red Blends and Reads! 

Kindy Red put their blending skills to work as they sounded out and read CVC words. They then showed their understanding by drawing pictures to match each word. What fantastic little readers! 🌟

Year 2: Fast Heroes Program

Congratulations to our Year 2 students on successfully completing the Fast Heroes program this term. Through a series of engaging lessons and activities, students learned how to recognise the signs of a stroke and the importance of acting quickly in an emergency. The program empowered students to become health heroes within their families and communities by remembering the key stroke symptoms and knowing how to seek help. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment our Year 2 students demonstrated throughout the program and the valuable life-saving knowledge they have gained.

NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge K-9 

The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge ends on the 18th September. To successfully complete this, students must finalise their reading records on or before this date.

Celebrate Children’s Book Week 2026: Symphony of Stories 

From Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28, our college will celebrate Children’s Book Week. 

This year’s official theme is "Symphony of Stories." Just like different musical instruments come together to create a beautiful orchestra, diverse books and unique characters come together to enrich our world.  

Throughout the week, students will be allowed to engage in creative, book-related activities. These will be communicated to the students via their class teachers, Sentral and/or Teams.

Year 7 History & Art Excursion

Year 7 students visited the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney,  to explore exhibitions featuring Ancient Egyptian and Roman artefacts, complementing their studies in History and Visual Arts.

The students were immersed in these magnificent ancient cultures and demonstrated genuine enthusiasm and engagement throughout the visit. Our museum guides were informative, knowledgeable and generous in answering the students’ many questions, helping to enrich their learning experience.

Year 7 were brilliant ambassadors for the school, displaying excellent behaviour, curiosity and a high level of engagement throughout the excursion. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning beyond the classroom.
