Student Engagement and School Events Update

As we move through Term 2, students across the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools have been actively involved in a range of learning opportunities, celebrations and important milestones.

Middle School News

Our Middle School students have had a busy and productive few weeks.

Year 9 and 10 students have been preparing for and completing their semester examinations, demonstrating their commitment to their studies and reflecting on the learning that has taken place throughout the semester.

Students also participated in Anti-Cyberbullying Workshop presentations, which provided valuable insights into safe and respectful online behaviour. These sessions encouraged students to think critically about their digital footprint and the importance of creating positive online communities.

Preparations are also underway for upcoming camps, with information meetings being held to ensure students and families are well-informed and excited for these important learning experiences.

In recognition of Reconciliation Week, Middle School students took a leading role in organising and presenting assemblies. These student-led events highlighted the significance of reconciliation, promoted understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and encouraged our school community to reflect on how we can contribute to a more inclusive future.

Senior School News

Senior students continue to make progress as they move toward the final semester of their schooling journey.

Year 12 students completed their GAT preparation sessions during Weeks 5 and 6 and are now preparing to sit the General Achievement Test (GAT) on Tuesday, 16 June. Many subjects have now completed Unit 3 coursework, marking an important transition as students begin their final unit of study for the year.

Excitement is also building for the upcoming Half-Way Day celebrations in Week 10. This special occasion recognises that our Year 12 students have officially reached the halfway point of their final year of secondary school—a significant achievement worthy of celebration.

Meanwhile, Year 11 students have commenced their semester examinations during Week 7. Exams will continue through to the end of Week 8, and we wish all students the very best as they demonstrate their learning and understanding.

Junior School News

The Term 2 Pizza Points Competition is nearing its exciting conclusion.

Throughout the term, Year 7 and 8 homegroups have been demonstrating outstanding behaviour, teamwork and positive engagement across the school. To earn Pizza Points, homegroups must receive nominations in three different classes, rewarding students who consistently display our school values.

The Junior Engagement Team has secured a new pizza provider and is looking forward to announcing the winning homegroups at the end of Week 9. We congratulate all participating students for their enthusiasm and commitment and look forward to celebrating the winners soon.

Thank you to all students, staff and families for your continued support throughout a busy and successful term. We look forward to sharing more achievements and celebrations as the semester draws to a close.

Whole School News

For the remainder of the term, students have continued to engage in a range of meaningful and community-focused activities. National Sorry Day provided an opportunity for students to reflect on Australia's history and the importance of reconciliation, respect and understanding.

Our partnership with Canine Comprehension has continued to be a highlight for many students, with the program promoting wellbeing, confidence and positive connections through interactions with trained therapy dogs.

Thursday Morning Breakfast Club remains a popular initiative, bringing students and staff together each week and helping to foster a strong sense of belonging within our school community.

In a much-anticipated annual tradition, our Year 12 students also participated in the LSC NBA Draft, with Team Darko and Team Teresa taking on the roles of head coaches as students eagerly awaited their team selections, this will mark a 5 game series commencing in Week 9.

Additionally, our Year 11 Peer Leaders have been supporting Explore students in developing resumes and cover letters, providing valuable guidance while building leadership skills and helping younger students prepare for future employment opportunities. Together, these experiences reflect the strong culture of connection, leadership and engagement that continues to thrive across our school
