Principal

Mr. Corey Jewell

Lalor Secondary College will undertake it’s 4-year school review signalling the end of the 2023-2026 strategic plan. The strategic plan has seen some key improvement strategies delivered such as the assessment review, consistency within the instructional model via several focus areas including teaching the model to our students, the development of a whole school engagement framework and the introduction of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. The details for the review are outlined below, and I look forward to sharing the new 4-year strategic plan before the end of the year.

School Reviewer

Leslie Tulloch – National Curriculum Services

Department of Education Representative

Anthony Simone Senior Education Improvement Leader – NEMA – Whittlesea Schools Network

Challenge Partners

Ben Johnstone/McCloud – Executive Director – School Performance

Paul Dawson – Principal – North Geelong Secondary College

Arthur Soumalias – Principal – Rosehill Secondary College

Dates for the LSC School Review in Term 3.

Term 3:

Week 2: July 21

Week 4:  August 4

Week 5: August 11

During the 3 days it is expected that the school reviewer, SEIL and challenge partners will undertake classroom observations and speak to a range of staff, students, and parents to gauge the effectiveness of the school structures and key improvement strategies of the past 4 years. Those sessions will be run independently of the school leadership team with the information provided from those sessions then fed back to the school improvement team as part of the review process. That input helps guide the development of the next 4-year strategic plan.

The school has already undertaken the Minimum Standards and Child Safe Standards compliance assessment component of the review in Term 1. The processes and policies of the college have allowed the school to meet the compliance requirements.

The curriculum review lead by Leslie Tulloch will require SIT to complete a Pre-Review Self-Assessment, as well as the Curriculum and Student Learning Minimum Standard compliance self-assessment. Having already commenced this process with the LSC leadership team we are certain to meet these standards.

There will be an opportunity for the wider school community to provide feedback on any aspect of the college during the process next term. I encourage all parents and carers to respond to the opportunity when provided early next term.

Student Free Day

There will be a Curriculum Day scheduled for this Friday the 12th of June allowing staff to mark and correct exams and assessment before reports are published on the 24th of June.

The last day of term is Friday the 26th of June. Students will finish school on this day at 1.12pm and be dismissed from school at this time.

World Refugee Day

One of the great days on our school calendar over the past 5 years has been World Refugee Day. This day to be held on Friday the 19th of June this year has been a celebration of our community and the wonderful contributions our refugee and EAL students and families have made to our community. We look forward to the activities and events run on this day and encourage all students to get involved.

The 2026 World Refugee Day theme is Courage.
