NSW Vaccination Program
Each year NSW Health works in partnership with schools to offer the vaccines recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for adolescents as part of the school vaccination program.
In 2026 the following vaccines will be offered:
YEARS | VACCINE | NUMBER OF DOSES |
Year 7 |
Human papillomavirus (HPV9) vaccine |
Single dose |
Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine |
Single dose | |
Year 10 |
Meningococcal ACWY vaccine |
Single dose
|
Schools will distribute a URL and a QR code to all Year 7 and Year 10 parents at the beginning of the 2026 school year which will provide access to an online Parent Information, privacy statement and consent form. To consent to the vaccination of their child, parents/careres are advised to:
- Enter the URL into your browser, select the School Vaccination Program tile and follow instructions.
- read all the information provided
- complete the online consent form and give consent for which vaccine/s they would like their child to receive
- ensure that their child eats breakfast on the day of the school vaccination clinic.
To improve vaccination completion, students whose parents/carers have provided consent while in Year 7 or Year 10 and who miss vaccine doses at any clinic, will be opportunistically offered these vaccines at each clinic visit throughout 2026 (Year 7 or 10) & 2027 (Year 8 or 11).
Parents/carers who wish to withdraw their consent for any reason may do so by amending their student’s online consent.
The Procedure for Withdrawal of Consent is available on the NSW Health website at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation/Pages/withdraw_consent.aspx
A Record of Vaccination will be provided to parents by SMS once a student has been vaccinated. Parents/carers should not assume that their child has been vaccinated if they do not receive this SMS notification.
NOTE: If you experience difficulty with accessing the online consent package, please speak with the School Vaccination coordinator at your school.
Blind Date with a Book
In honour of Valentine’s Day, the Uralla Central School Library is hosting ‘Blind Date with a Book’.
A selection of books have been wrapped up and three descriptive words written on the paper. Borrowers are forced to make their selection based solely on these three words.
Although the event will officially run from 12 to 18 February, it has been so well received that many students begged to borrow early.
Students are encouraged to read the first chapter of their surprise book before deciding whether to return it.
We look forward to hearing about newfound interests and the rekindling of student imagination.

Success at the Uralla Show
Students studying Agriculture achieved outstanding results at the Uralla Show, entering a wide variety of produce including corn cobs, creative vegetable animals and eggs. Their efforts were rewarded with multiple first and second place awards.
Students from Mrs Taylor’s Hospitality classes also experienced great success, entering patty cakes and scones in the cookery section. Their entries received several Highly Commended awards, earning them the title of "Most Successful Under 17 Years Entrant" in the cookery section. The Preserves class was equally successful, with beetroot relish and blackberry jam receiving first and second place awards respectively.
Over the coming weeks, Year 7 Technology students will be introduced to the hospitality room and will be challenged to cook scones for entry in the upcoming Armidale Show.
Parents and carers are reminded that all students using the hospitality room are required to wear closed-in shoes and an apron for safety and hygiene purposes.
Support for our School Agricultural Program
Uralla Central School would like to sincerely thank the Ball family for their generous donation of a steer to our School Agricultural Program. The steer, named Porter, has settled in well and has joined our other steer, Buster, who was kindly donated last year by the Gibson family.
Throughout the year, students will be responsible for handling and feeding both steers, gaining valuable practical skills before exhibiting them at the Northern Schools Steer Show in November.
These donations are greatly appreciated and provide our students with a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities. In addition, students will be preparing lambs for the Northern Schools Prime Lamb Competition. This will be the first time in several years that the school has participated in this event. Other sheep-related activities planned for the year include preparing ewes for joining, shearing, and lambing later in the year.
We thank our community for their continued support of our agricultural education programs.
Languages
The Year 7 Japanese class is off to a great start, testing their knowledge of Japan and mastering their names in Katakana. Look out for their posters, on display around the school.
The 9/10 elective Japanese class has marked the incoming Year of The Horse with lunar new year activities and treats.
Art
The 5/6/7 Art Techniques have received their tote bag and sketch book and begun planning for some exciting small group art activities.
