Years 3 & 4

Hi families,

Our Grade 3/4 students have settled back into school routines well this term, returning from the holidays ready to learn and reconnect with each other.

So far, our learning has had a strong focus on building key foundations. In Maths, students have been exploring length - learning how to measure and compare objects using both informal and formal units. In Reading, we’ve been working on finding the key ideas in texts, helping students better understand what they read and talk about it with confidence. Our daily word study sessions, including phonics, are supporting students to strengthen their spelling and reading skills.

In Inquiry, students have begun exploring the history of Early African Kingdoms, building their understanding of the past and how different societies lived. Alongside this, in Social and Emotional Learning, students have been identifying their own strengths and recognising strengths in others. They’ve been sharing examples of how they use these strengths in their everyday school life, which has been wonderful to see.

Homework will resume shortly, and we encourage students to stay consistent with their home reading and any tasks set by their classroom teacher, as this makes a real difference to their learning.

It’s been a positive and focused start to the term, and we’re looking forward to a great term ahead!
