General Information

Apply now to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for 2027

All Victorian government primary schools follow a statewide timeline for enrolling in Foundation (Prep) for the 2027 school year.

If you have a child starting primary school in 2027, it’s time to enrol. Make sure to submit your enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026

If you are enrolling the sibling of a student at our school for Foundation in 2027, and both children will be attending our school at the same time, your child is prioritised for a place at our school.

It is important to submit your enrolment application to us on time as it will ensure your child is included in all transition activities at our school. This also allows us to plan our classrooms, staffing and transition activities, and ensures your child has the best start to school.

For more information, please read about how to enrol your child in Foundation at vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep

If you would like to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027, please contact our school office on 9429-2950 or richmond.west.ps@ education.vic.gov.au  to book a school tour or request an enrolment form.

Access to School

Please remember that our school yard is supervised from 8:45am-9:00am in the morning and the school day ends at 3:30pm.  Please contact the school directly if you are unable to pick your child up by 3:30pm and arrangements can be made for them to be supervised by TeamKids.

We ask all families to register with TeamKids, even if you never use the service.  During times when things crop up, it is worthwhilejust to have the option.

Please note, we are unable to supervise students at the office before 8:45am or after 3:45pm.

Parent Contributions

RWPS continues to welcome parent contributions in the form of parent payments and parents volunteering their time. Contributions are greatly appreciated irrespective of how big or small.

  1. Parent Payments for 2026.

RWPS provides students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students.  We want to thank all the parents who have made voluntary payments and remind parents that Parent Payments for 2026 can be paid through Compass or at the office

Within our school this support has allowed us to provide a truly comprehensive and enriching program for our students – with a diverse range of educational activities and opportunities – over and above those associated with the basic curriculum. Some of the examples of the additional programs that we are able to offer as a result of the parent payments include:

  • Kitchen Garden

  • Swimming Program

  • Fundraising for a new Sensory Garden

Second hand uniform will be available to purchase from the uniform shop on Tuesday mornings from 8:45am-9:15am.

Cost of items

  • dresses, tunics, windcheaters, fleeces & hoodies $10.00.
  • long and short sleeve shirts, shorts, skorts, long pants $5.00

Richmond Youth Brass Band

Over the Easter weekend, the Richmond Youth Brass Band competed in the Australian National Band Championships. Amongst them were many former students (pictured) and three current students - Alison Arnold, Sarah O'Connor and Hildegard Venning.

The band travelled to Brisbane to compete at City Hall. It was their first interstate trip as a group and the band enjoyed the warm weather and spent considerable time in the hotel pool.

They had a busy weekend, performing over 2 days, playing two major works of over 10 minutes in length each, as well as a hymn arrangement (fittingly, of the hymn 'Richmond') in order to demonstrate their blend and sound quality, and also a rousing stage march.

After winning the Junior C grade title last year, the band was promoted to Junior B grade, and managed to come second. They played brilliantly, especially in their Own Choice work, Dark Side of the Moon.

Their trip ended with a group excursion to Movie World, a nice reward for their hard work!
