Social Skills Lessons
Starting next term, we will be introducing a series of targeted social skills groups.
These small-group sessions are designed to support students in developing the social skills needed to feel happy, confident, and successful at school.
The initial focus areas will include:
• Asking to join in a game
• Following instructions
• Managing feelings when losing games
• Making new friends and getting to know others
• Understanding how and when to say sorry
• Waiting for our turn
• Safe ways to manage feelings when we feel angry or frustrated
Teachers have identified students who may benefit from additional support or a refresher in these areas.
The sessions will be highly interactive, incorporating hands-on activities and real-life scenarios to help students practise and develop these important skills.
If you have any questions about the social skills groups, please don't hesitate to contact me at melissa.mcleod@education.vic.gov.au.
