Welcome
Welcome to another exciting term of learning in Mind, Body and Us! Throughout Term Three, students from Foundation to Year Six will engage in meaningful learning experiences that support their health, wellbeing, safety, and personal development. Students will explore how healthy choices, positive relationships, effective communication, and community connections contribute to a happy and healthy life.
Through discussions, investigations, creative projects, role-plays, collaborative tasks, and reflective activities, students will develop practical skills and knowledge that help them navigate everyday situations with confidence. We look forward to seeing students share their learning and celebrate their achievements throughout the term.
Prep
This Term, Foundation students will continue developing an understanding of their bodies and how to care for themselves. They will explore the different parts of the body, recognise ways their bodies grow and change, and investigate healthy habits that support their wellbeing. Students will also learn about personal safety, respectful interactions, and the important role of community helpers.
As the term progresses, students will identify health and safety messages within their school and community and practise making choices that help keep themselves and others safe. Learning experiences will include games, stories, creative tasks, and collaborative activities that encourage students to apply their understanding in everyday situations.

Year 1
This term, Year One students will investigate health messages that promote positive health, safety, and wellbeing. They will explore how signs, posters, labels, and community messages encourage healthy habits such as eating nutritious foods, staying active, practising good hygiene, and keeping safe.
Students will have opportunities to create and communicate their own health messages through a range of creative formats, helping them develop confidence in sharing information that supports healthy choices. Throughout the term, students will reflect on how everyday decisions contribute to their overall wellbeing.

Year 2
Throughout Term Three, Year Two students will explore how health messages and wellbeing strategies support healthy and safe lifestyles. Students will investigate a variety of messages found in their school and wider community, including those relating to nutrition, physical activity, sun safety, road safety, and online safety.
Using their growing understanding, students will analyse how health messages influence behaviour and encourage positive choices. They will also develop and share their own health promotion ideas through creative projects designed to educate and inspire others.

Year 3
This term, Year Three students will examine how health information and messages influence the choices people make every day. They will explore information from a variety of sources, including advertisements, food labels, school initiatives, and media messages.
Students will learn to identify the purpose of different health messages and consider how these messages can support healthy lifestyles. Through practical activities and discussions, they will develop skills to evaluate information and make informed decisions that promote their own health and wellbeing.

Year 4

Students will analyse advertising techniques, interpret food labels, and evaluate the reliability of different sources of information. They will then apply this knowledge by creating their own health promotion materials designed to encourage positive health choices within their community.

They will also learn about the importance of family, culture, and community connections in supporting wellbeing, including perspectives from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Students will work collaboratively to identify health-related issues and develop practical strategies and solutions that promote positive outcomes for individuals and communities.

As the term progresses, students will investigate contemporary health issues, evaluate reliable health information, and develop strategies that support positive wellbeing. They will apply their learning through inquiry-based projects that encourage them to advocate for healthy choices and contribute positively to their communities.
