Welcome to IPS
Last day of Term
This Friday marks the end of Term 2, with an early dismissal at 2:30pm. It has certainly been a busy and productive term, filled with rich student learning and a wide range of engaging events across the school.
Student reports will be available on Compass from 4:00pm on Friday. This is a valuable opportunity to celebrate achievements and reflect on progress. It is also a timely moment to set goals at both home and school—supporting students who are excelling, those working consistently well, and those who may benefit from some additional encouragement.
Education is not a linear journey. For all learners, there are peaks and troughs, periods of rapid growth and times when progress may feel slower. The upcoming holidays provide a chance to pause, reflect and recharge before moving forward into the next phase of learning.
The mid-year point is an ideal time to talk with your child about goal setting for the next Semester. Encourage them to think about what they feel they are “good at” and what they would like to “get better at.” Positive language and a growth mindset can make a powerful difference.
Finally, we value the strong partnership between home and school. Parents, carers, teachers, support staff and, most importantly, our students all play a role in the learning journey. When we work together, aligned in purpose and direction, we maximise opportunities for success and achievement for every child.
Green and Gold Day on our Last Day of Term
World Cup fever has certainly hit our school, with excitement building across classrooms and the playground! As a proudly multicultural community, it has been wonderful to see staff and students sharing their passion for different teams, engaging in friendly rivalries, and celebrating their cultural connections to countries around the world. Most importantly, it has been fantastic to see everyone come together in support of Australia, demonstrating our school values of respect, inclusion, and community spirit.
Watch the Socceroos Live in the Hall
On Friday, everyone is encouraged to dress in green and gold in support of the Socceroos and the game will be screened live in the hall at 12noon.
Let's hope the Socceroos win, ending our term on a high note and an early finish at 2.30pm!
Lost Property
There are quite a few belongings without names still in lost property boxes. Please make sure you check all the lost property locations:
- In the hall foyer.
- Under the shelter near the Collaboration Space (Old Canteen).
- Outside the Beehive.
- Outside the Out of School Hours Care Program.
*For health and safety reasons food containers and drink bottles will be disposed of over the break.
Whole School House Lunch
Our House Captains did a terrific job of organising and running the House Lunch this afternoon. There was singing, dancing, chanting and relay racing and lots and lots of shouting with excitement to cheer on each house and Annette donated $300 from each lunch purchased today to go towards the Year 6 Canberra camp! Thank you for your support and generosity Annette.
What a fantastic afternoon to wrap up the term and celebrate together as a school.
Year 6 Arcade Games: A Huge Success!
Massive congratulations to our Year 6 students for the resounding success of Arcade Games Day this week. Throughout the term, students worked collaboratively to design, engineer and build their own arcade games, showing creativity, teamwork and impressive problem‑solving skills.
Their hard work paid off! Arcade Day was not only packed with fun, colour and excitement, but also served as a highly successful fundraiser for the Year 6 Camp.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful school community for coming along, playing the games and supporting our students. Your enthusiasm and generosity helped create a day full of joy, laughter and community spirit.
Well done, Year 6: you should be incredibly proud of what you achieved.
Head over to the Student Voice page to see more photos!
Thank you to families from across the whole school for their support of this project too!

Holiday Program - update
TheirCare would like to provide an update regarding the upcoming Winter Holiday Program at Ivanhoe Primary School.
Unfortunately, The Department of Education has not been able to to grant approval to operate the service at IPS in time for the upcoming holiday period. Whilst this is disappointing, TheirCare are working closely with the Department and are confident that the program will run at IPS for the September holiday period.
Families who require care should proceed with making bookings at the Ivanhoe East PS TheirCare program.

NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week is always celebrated in the first week of July, which falls in our school holidays. At school this week we have marked NAIDOC Week as a special time for all Australians to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for us to learn more about the world’s oldest continuing cultures, to listen, and to show respect for the deep connection First Nations peoples have to Country, community and tradition. It also reminds us of the importance of working together towards understanding, reconciliation and respect.
As a school, we are celebrating NAIDOC Week by being curious, asking questions, and showing kindness and respect to one another. Every small action helps us grow our understanding and in our final week of term, we have been taking this as a chance to learn, reflect and celebrate together.
Finally
Please remember not everyone is aware that it is school holidays so sadly drivers are not always on the lookout for children.
I take this opportunity to thank all of the staff for their dedication to IPS. Their dedication is integral to making our school a great school.
I hope you all are able to take some time out from your busy schedules and find some downtime for simple pleasures and to enjoy the company of family and good friends.
Stay safe everyone and I'll leave you with a couple student performances from Monday's assembly.
Thank you for your continued support.
