From the Classroom - D5 (Miss Jess)

We have had a magnificent start to Term 4 in D5! I am so proud of how all of our students have returned and are ready to learn from day one. We jumped right back into our learning with InitiaLit. We are learning about a new type of word called an adverb. We went on a fun imaginative adventure today to see a lion cub using lots of different adverbs to describe how we were moving through the jungle.

In Maths this term, we are doing lots of work on our addition and subtraction strategies. We have started this week with revising some of our addition strategies and using worded problems. We have been using the maths tool 10-frames and unfix to model the problem and then counting on to assist us. Counting on means starting from the bigger number and counting on from that number to find the total. We saw lots of success with this! 

In writing this week, we are exploring poetry. Our poem structure that we are focussing on this term is Acrostic Poems. Today we started by developing an acrostic poem together about ice cream. Check out our work below!
