Years 3-6 'Song of Art Competition'
Together with the Arts Captains, Piper and Annelise, we are running an art competition with the theme ‘Music In Art’ for all year 3 to 6 students.
The winners will be invited to join Ms Kupfer on a fun excursion to MUMA – (Monash University of Modern Art) and participate in a free workshop with contemporary artist Tina Stefanou. Places are limited – a maximum of 25 students will be chosen to attend.
Both 2D and 3D artworks will be accepted. Please hand in your artwork to the office and make sure it is labelled with your name and grade.
The cut off date for entries has been extended to Wednesday 13 May.
The excursion and workshop will be held on Wednesday 10 June.
Good luck!
Years 3 & 4 'Mary Blair Castle Collages'
The year 3 and 4 students have made a terrific start to the term by recreating a Mary Blair inspired castle using shapes and collage techniques.
It has been wonderful to see their use of colour and application of a variety of concepts including symmetry, layering and juxtaposition of positive and negative space.
Years 5 & 6 'Reimagine the Great Wave off Kanagawa'
After exploring the work of Japanese artist, Hokusai, the year 5 and 6 students have begun adding their own reimagined ideas to their version of his famous artwork, The Great Wave Off Kanagawa.
Students have been adding a vast array of elements ranging from favourite pop culture icons to symbolic images of interest. I am really looking forward to seeing their artworks unfold and where they take their ideas - especially when students begin to add watercolour to their final sketches.
Stay tuned for an update on Foundation and Year 1 and 2 students in the coming weeks.
Happy Creative Days,
Helen Kupfer
