From the Principal

Dear families,
The first three weeks of term have already been jam-packed with exciting events and opportunities for our students and community including:
- House Cross Country
- ANZAC Day Assembly
- Year 4 Camp
- Staff First Aid and CPR Training
- New Flag Presentation by Tim Wilson MP
- P&F Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser
- Community Open Afternoon for Kinder Families
- P&F Mother’s Day Stall
- P&F Mother’s Day Morning
This week, we welcomed more than 30 families to our Community Open Afternoon for families with children attending kinder. It was a wonderful opportunity for prospective OPS students and their families to explore our school after hours, meet our incredible staff and participate in activities run by our extra-curricular providers.
It was a very special event and the feedback we received has been overwhelmingly positive. I would particularly like to acknowledge our Year 6 leaders, who volunteered their own time to welcome families and represent our school community. You were outstanding role models, and we are incredibly proud of the way you conducted yourselves.
We still have school tours running every few weeks and our Foundation enrolments are currently open.
It has also been a huge start to the term for our amazing P&F, who have already organised three incredible community events. We are so appreciative of the committee members, parents and volunteers who continue to dedicate their time and energy to organising fundraising opportunities that directly support our students and school programs.
Last Saturday saw our very first Bunnings BBQ fundraiser at Oakleigh Bunnings, which was a resounding success. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the day and to all those who stopped by to support our community efforts.
The celebrations continued today as we welcomed mums, step-mums, grandmas and special people to school for a lovely morning filled with coffee, baked treats, yoga, photos and connection. It was wonderful to see the excitement, joy and strong sense of community throughout the morning.
Another fantastic P&F initiative this week was the OPS Mother’s/Special Person’s Day Stall, which was a great success yesterday. The stall provided students with the opportunity to develop independence and responsibility while handling money, but more importantly, it allowed them to thoughtfully choose gifts to show appreciation for the important people in their lives.
A huge thank you again to our P&F and all of the volunteers who helped make these events so successful and special for our community. You will hear from our P&F Co-Conveners, Jack and Cameron, shortly regarding the outcomes of the recent community survey and the allocation of fundraising funds.
Have a wonderful weekend.
With thanks,
Anna-Marie Yelland
