Principal's Views

These last couple of weeks have been so busy  at Epping Views.  A big thank you to all of the staff and parent helpers that accompanied our 5/6 students to Phillip Island last week. The camp was very successful and enjoyed by all - read ahead in this newsletter to see some photos and hear about all the fun.

Yesterday we celebrated a very special day, Education Support Staff Appreciation Day

Thank you to the families and students who acknowledged our Education Support staff who work in various roles across the school. Education Support staff at EVPS work in classrooms and in the yard, support students one-on-one and in groups, manage resources, keep the technology going, keep the grounds clean and keep our students, staff and community members informed and cared for. We are very grateful for everything they do to support our students, teachers, and school community.

This week students have been making cards and yesterday our Prep students gave each ES a rose to say thank you for all the work they do around the school. Members of the student leadership team answered phonecalls and helped students and parents at the front office so that the ES could enjoy afternoon tea together. Our school captains made a speech to acknowledge the impact that Education Support staff have on student growth and wellbeing.

You’ll enjoy the photos as it was also Crazy Hair Day. Our student leaders put on a great day with the student community to raise funds for their Graduation in December.

The fun continues next week and you will not believe how many events we have happening …

The theme for Education Week is Showcase Your School ... as part of the celebrations, we are excited to bring forward our Celebration of Learning Open Afternoon to Thursday 21st May from 2:45pm – 3:20pm. Parents and carers are warmly invited to join their child in the classroom to experience the learning taking place across the school and celebrate student growth and achievement.

The annual Book Fair will also commence on 20th May, providing students and families with the opportunity to explore a fantastic range of books while helping to foster a love of reading within our community.

Students will visit the Book Fair with their class during the day and the parents have an opportunity to look at books afterschool from 3.30 - 4.00pm.

We also look forward to  Prep Breakfast on Friday 22nd May. This special event provides a wonderful opportunity for Prep students to come to school in their Pyjamas and enjoy a breakfast with together.

National Road Safety Week will take place from 17–24 May, and EVPS will be participating in Walk/Ride to School Safely Day on Friday 22 May. We encourage all families to support this initiative and help promote safe, active travel to and from school.

We encourage all students to ride or scoot (no E-Scooters) safely to school and if you usually drive to school, park a street or two away and walk the rest of the way to school together.

We are also pleased to welcome members of Victoria Police from Epping Police Station, who will be joining the Principal Team at the Mansfield Street Gate to greet students as they arrive at school.

Students who walk or ride to school through the Mansfield Street Gate will receive a special sticker to celebrate the day!

As well as all of these exciting activities, we are also pleased to have Teeth on Wheels and Glasses for Kids on site during Education Week, supporting the health and wellbeing of our students and families.

We will finish the week with a whole school Assembly on Friday 22nd May 2.45pm.

Other important dates to remember:

27th May: Reconciliation Week begins

5th June: Curriculum Day - Assessment & Reporting Day

8th June: Kings Birthday Public Holiday

24th June: Student Led Conferences

Warm regards,

Rachel Griffiths
