Vinnies Youth Corner

At this week’s whole school assembly, we acknowledged the good works that the college community has been involved in so far this year supporting Vinnies Youth. These included the donating of hygiene items, clothing and blankets. We also had several fundraising events.

With your generous donations of hygiene items and students' donation of time we prepared approximately 144 lunch packs which were distributed to the homeless and those in need through Kelmscott Vinnies. Each pack contained a ham and salad roll or chicken roll, a muffin and a vegemite or pizza scroll as well as a toothbrush, toothpaste or other hygiene product.

At the recent assembly the Mission and Service Captains proudly presented Bridget from Kelmscott Vinnies conference a cheque for $1514.61. Bridget spoke about how the Lumen Christi College community demonstrated the guiding lights of example and service and thanked our community. She emphasised how everything that we do is greatly appreciated and helps people in our local areas that are in need.

Students were also presented with Vinnies badges at the assembly. In order to receive a Vinnies badge, a student must attend ¾ of the events held. There are also several other students who have helped out on one or two occasions and we thank them and welcome them to continue to support Vinnies. Students also earn points for their Houses by attending Vinnies activities.
