On Thursday, 17th September, students from Pakenham Secondary College joined students from across Cardinia for Deadly Day 2026, held at Deep Creek Reserve.

Deadly Day is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, bringing together First Nations students, school leaders and members of the local community for a day of connection, culture, community and shared experiences.

The event provided students with the opportunity to take part in a range of activities alongside students from other schools across the Cardinia network, while celebrating the strength and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

Within Aboriginal culture, the word “deadly” is often used to describe something that is excellent or awesome, making Deadly Day a fitting name for this important annual event.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with others and celebrate culture at Deep Creek Reserve.
