Service Learning – Bringing Joy to Others
Our students have also been putting our Loreto values into action through Service Learning, sharing their time, talents and energy with members of our wider community.
Recently, students visited Calvary hospital where they discovered that sometimes the simplest acts of kindness can bring enormous joy. Students shared their musical talents through singing. Their music brought smiles to patients, families and staff, and students experienced first-hand the impact that their presence can have on others.
These Service-Learning experiences are an important part of our students’ formation. Service Learning encourages students to move beyond simply learning about justice and compassion and instead live these values through action. By giving their time and being present to others, our students discovered that service is a two-way experience: while they offer something to others, they too receive the gift of connection, gratitude and joy.
In these simple moments of service, we see the spirit of Mary Ward alive in our young people: faith expressed through action and Felicity shared with others.
Felicity on Film – Mission Day
There is plenty of excitement building as we look forward to Mission Day, our annual day of celebration, community and fundraising. This year’s theme is Felicity on Film, giving us the perfect opportunity to celebrate joy, creativity and the wonderful spirit of our Loreto community.
Mission Day is an important part of our commitment to putting our values into action. Through our fundraising, we will support Mary Ward International Australia (MWIA) and their work alongside communities experiencing disadvantage. Mary Ward’s vision calls us to recognise the dignity of every person and to work for a more just world, and Mission Day gives our students a tangible way to live this out.
The day will be filled with fun, laughter and plenty of creativity, with a wonderful array of fundraising stalls organised by our students. From games and challenges to food, treats and activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. The highlight of the day will be our Talent Show, where students will have the opportunity to share their gifts and talents with the wider community.
Year 8 Reflection Day
Our Year 8 students recently had the opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday school life and spend time reflecting, connecting and considering what it means to live with Felicity.
The Reflection Day provided students with space to think about themselves, their friendships and the people who contribute to their lives. Through a range of interactive activities, small-group conversations and personal reflection, students were encouraged to recognise the joy that can be found in relationships, gratitude, belonging and simply being present to the people and experiences around them.
It was wonderful to see students engaging so openly with the activities and with one another. We hope they continue to carry some of the insights from the day into their everyday lives, particularly the reminder that Felicity is not simply about being happy, but about discovering a deeper sense of joy, purpose and connection.

Father’s Day Liturgy
The Junior School community gathered for a beautiful Father's Day Liturgy on Monday, 7 September, led by the Reception students. The girls did a wonderful job leading the school in prayer and reflection as we celebrated and gave thanks for the fathers, grandfathers and special father figures. Their confidence, reverence and enthusiasm made the liturgy a memorable occasion for all who attended.
Year 1 Chapel Mass
On Tuesday, 8 September, Year 1 students celebrated their Chapel Mass on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This special feast day honours the birth of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and reminds us of her important role in God's plan. It was wonderful to see so many family members join the girls for this meaningful celebration of faith and community.
Catholic Charities Mass
Our Year 6 Prayer and Liturgy Captains also recently attended the Catholic Charities Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Patrick O’Regan, Vicar General Dean Marin and Fr Matthew Newman. The day provided a valuable opportunity for the girls to learn more about the important work of the charities within the Adelaide Archdiocese. They enjoyed visiting information stalls and discovering how organisations such as Hutt St Centre and Centacare make a positive difference in the lives of those in need. It was a wonderful day of learning, reflection and engaging activities, helping the girls gain a deeper understanding of service, compassion and social justice in action.
