NextGen - Year 5/6 Leadership Event

What an incredible day we had on Tuesday with students from Year 8 - 9 leading the first of three NextGen events here at DCS! 

We are so proud of the way our secondary students stepped up to lead, demonstrating maturity, confidence, and a genuine heart for serving others. Throughout the day, they took initiative, led independently, and helped guide more than 200 students with enthusiasm and care.

It was inspiring to see so many students embracing new challenges. Some courageously stepped outside their comfort zones, while others confidently flourished in areas where their natural gifts and talents shone brightly. No matter the role, every contribution mattered, and every detail was noticed.

Our secondary students continue to demonstrate the positive influence they can have within our school community. Their leadership, encouragement, and willingness to serve others are qualities to be celebrated.

Year 7 English

In English, Year 7 students have been exploring the theme of wolves in literature through the picture book Woolvs in the Sitee and the novel Wolf on the Fold. They have examined how wolves can represent danger, hardship and the challenges faced by different characters, as well as how resilience can help overcome them. 

Year 8 students have been exploring the theme of oppression through the novel One Half from the East. In particular, how gender expectations and cultural restrictions affect the characters' lives and freedoms.
