Welcome to Haven's newsletter for Term 3!
I wonder if we can now finally look forward to some sunshine, but time will tell with the unpredictability of Melbourne's weather.
We the UV levels increasing and Haven being a Sun Smart service, all children will apply sunscreen every 2 hours when the UV is above 3 with Haven hats and suitable clothing.
Centre updates
At Haven we are committed to providing children with quality early childhood education and creating an environment that is welcoming to all and meets the needs of our families. -This term based on family surveys we made some adjustments to our menu to represent a larger variety of cultures, created a higher frequency of rotations across the 5 week menu and continue to meet children's nutritional needs.
-Our 4-year old Kindergarten Room has had an exciting addition with the purchase of an interactive smart board that is closely matched to those used in primary schools. These promote engagement, cater to a range of learning styles and will foster school readiness.
-Following the technology theme, new iPads were purchased for all rooms, with the Forest Room receiving digital cameras. These devices allow educators to continue to document and update children's education journeys here at Haven, with online safety a key area that is continually promoted and respected for all children and young people.
Educator's Day
On the 6th September we celebrated Educator's day recognising the efforts, commitment and passion of every single team member here at Haven Early Learning. It is so important to stop and take a moment to appreciate the dedication of all educators and teachers here at Haven and acknowledge the strong influence that early childhood education has on a child's life and future learning.
A big thankyou to all of our families and children for the kind words and messages of appreciation that were shared.
2024 Enrolments
As we edge closer to the end of the year behind the scenes we have been busy offering and confirming enrolments for 2024. Haven transitions children once a year in January, keeping children in groups based on the year they will be eligible to attend school.
- First round 3 & 4 year old Kindergarten offers have been made to all Haven Families, with 2024 being our busiest year yet with funded kindergarten spaces. If you are looking for a funded kindergarten but unsure how this works in a long day care setting please follow the attached link (fact sheets also available at the serv. https://www.vic.gov.au/sending-child-kinder
- Sun Room (toddler) enrolments have now also been offered to Haven Families with this room having limited availability for 2024. We strongly encourage all external families to join our waitlist as soon as possible if you are looking for an enrolment in the new year.
- River Room (babies) will welcome many new families in 2024, with enrolment spaces being confirmed by the end of October 2023.
