Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope the break brought rest, joy and time with loved ones. As we

 settle into a busy but fun‑filled term, I am looking forward to the learning, growth and community events ahead. Our students have already made a positive start and it is wonderful to see the school buzzing with energy again. Thank you for your ongoing support, it truly strengthens our community.

Partnering with Families for a Smooth Start to Term 3 

As we move into Term 3, children often need a little help re‑establishing routines and reconnecting with the rhythm of school life. A strong partnership between home and school makes this transition calm and positive. At home, predictable routines - regular bedtimes, organised school bags and a consistent morning rhythm, help children arrive feeling settled and ready to learn. When children feel secure in these daily structures, they are better able to engage with the rich learning experiences.

Building a Strong Home-School Partnership

A child thrives when they know the adults in their life are working together. Staying connected with the school through Compass updates,  the newsletter and classroom communication helps you stay informed and engaged. Reaching out early if your child is worried, tired, or finding something difficult allows us to respond quickly and support them. Attending school events, liturgies and celebrations also strengthens the sense of community that is central to Catholic education. When children see their families involved, they feel valued and connected.

Supporting Learning

Our curriculum is designed to build skills step by step, and families play an important role in reinforcing this learning. Reading together each night, encouraging curiosity and talking about what your child is learning helps strengthen their confidence and understanding. Asking simple questions like “What challenged you today?” or “What did you enjoy learning?” supports metacognition and helps children take ownership of their learning journey.

National Science Week 2026

The school theme for National Science Week in 2026 is 

Seeds of Science: nurturing science for all.

This theme invites students across Australia to explore the power of curiosity, inquiry and shared learning in growing scientific understanding. Just as seeds need the right conditions to grow, knowledge flourishes when it is nurtured, shared and applied to real-world and authentic challenges across all the scientific disciplines. It’s a celebration of how knowledge grows when tended with care, creativity and collaboration.

St Anthony’s will be celebrating National Science Week on Thursday 20 August and students are invited to come dressed as their favourite scientist or in a fun science‑themed outfit.

International Day of Friendship

International Day of Friendship on 30 July is a wonderful opportunity for our community to pause and celebrate the importance of kindness, connection and belonging. Strong friendships help children feel safe, confident and ready to learn and they play a vital role in shaping a positive school culture. Throughout the day, students will do activities designed to build empathy, teamwork and inclusivity, reminding us all that small acts of friendship can make a big difference. We will continue to nurture a school community where every child feels valued 

and supported, and we will further strengthen these skills by exploring friendships and friendship‑building each week through our URSTRONG lessons.

Welcome to our Pre-Service Teachers

This term we are pleased to welcome two pre‑service teachers to St Anthony’s. They will be working closely with our students as they continue to develop their skills, confidence and understanding of quality classroom practice. We are grateful for the fresh perspectives and enthusiasm they bring to our learning community and we look forward to supporting them as they grow in their vocation as future educators. Welcome to Hannah Kent will be working in Year 6 and Chloe O'Donnell who will be in Year 2.

Hannah Kent

I am currently in my fourth year of studying a Bachelor of Primary Education at the

 University of Notre Dame Australia. I'm thrilled to be completing my final teaching internship with the Year 6 class at St Anthony's Clovelly, where I will be learning and working alongside the school's dedicated and experienced teachers. I am passionate about education and strive to create positive and engaging learning environments that encourage every student to feel confident, supported and inspired to achieve their best. I look forward to joining the school community and a wonderful term of learning, growth and memorable experiences! 

Chloe O'Donnell

I am a pre-service teacher from the University of Notre Dame Sydney. I am completing my final placement (internship) at St Anthony's for Term 3. I am so excited to be working with the wonderful Year 2 students and becoming part of the St Anthony's school community. I’m excited for the term ahead and all the learning, growth and meaningful moments we will share as a school community.

Book In A Box:Years K-6 Information Outline

‘Book in a Box’ is a chance to bring your favourite book to life by putting together objects that relate to your book and using them to tell the story of what your book is all about. It

 involves decorating a box and filling it with items that represent different aspects of a book, allowing for a creative and engaging way to showcase the story. This project includes decorating the interior and exterior of the box to reflect the book's themes, summarising the plot and characters, and including objects that relate to the story, with accompanying explanations or quotes from the book.

2026 Staff Development Days (Pupil Free Days)

Each year, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) provides time for Staff Development Days (SDD), which provides professional learning time for all staff. St Anthony's will provide supervision for ALL Staff Development Days from Monday 20 July, for parents that are in need of care for their child due to work commitments. Parents will need to register.
