Celebrating our Learning in 1/2SK

Literacy
Term 2 began with the children sharing their fun and exciting holiday adventures.
As part of our Knowledge-Rich Unit on Animals, we have been exploring:
• The features of animals and how these help them survive
• The ways animals use their senses
• The basic needs of animals for survival
• The different habitats animals live in
• How animals are grouped and classified
The children worked in small groups to sort animals into categories and explain their thinking. They are really enjoying working together and are continuing to build their listening and turn-taking skills.
We’re excited about our upcoming excursion to Melbourne Zoo next week!
Numeracy
Each day, we complete a Maths Daily Review to revisit skills and concepts we have already learned. This regular practice helps to strengthen understanding, build confidence, and retrieve learning from long-term memory. It also allows the children to apply their skills in new and different problem-solving situations.
Religion
As Mother’s Day approaches, we have been learning about Mary, the Mother of Jesus. We explored her story, discussed her qualities, and compared them to our own mums and special carers.
We have a special activity planned for when our mums come to visit our classroom.
Can you guess which mummy you are?
Wishing all the wonderful mums and carers in our SJV community a very Happy Mother’s Day!
