Dear Families,
Pirate Maths Night – A Treasure of Learning and Fun!
What a fantastic evening we shared on Monday 5th May, with over 100 families coming along to our Pirate Family Maths Night! It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout, and I’d like to sincerely thank every family who took part. The positivity, teamwork and problem-solving on display were outstanding, and it was clear that everyone embraced the challenge in great spirit.
The night was filled with engaging maths tasks, plenty of laughter, and a few unexpected challenges along the way—none more so than the surprisingly tricky job of removing the backs off the stickers! It certainly tested patience as much as our mathematical thinking.
Events like this don’t happen without a great deal of preparation, and I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Daphne Parker and Allie Miller for their hard work and organisation. Their efforts ensured the night ran smoothly and created such an enjoyable experience for all involved.
Now, to our competition results—drum roll please! In the Senior category, congratulations to our winners: 1st place Andrei and Xavier, 2nd place Yatish, and 3rd place Jerome. In the Junior category, well done to Indi and Noah for taking out 1st place, followed by Menuli in 2nd, and Amareo and Zane in 3rd. A fantastic effort by all participants!
Most importantly, the night was a celebration of learning together. Seeing families working side by side, supporting each other and having fun with maths is exactly what we aim for. These shared experiences help build confidence, strengthen connections, and show our students that learning can be both challenging and enjoyable.
Please excuse the accompanying photo—I think it’s fair to say we were all having far too much fun!
Thank you once again to everyone who joined us. We look forward to many more opportunities to learn and celebrate together.
Warm regards,
Christ Short
Principal
