Kyneton Police Station – Inaugural Emergency Services Community Open Day

Saturday 5th September 2026 – 10 am until 3 pm

Step behind the badge and discover the rich history and modern policing of the Macedon Ranges at Kyneton Police’s inaugural Emergency Services Community Open Day.

Bring the whole family for a unique opportunity to tour the Kyneton Police Station and meet members from some of Victoria Police’s specialist units and our partners including Kyneton CFA, SES and Ambulance Victoria.

Visitors will also have the rare chance to step inside the very cell that housed Ned Kelly for three weeks in 1870, offering a fascinating glimpse into one of Australia's most famous historical stories.

There will be plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day, including:

  • Guided tours of Kyneton Police Station
  • Displays from Victoria Police, the Kyneton CFA, and the Woodend SES
  • Police vehicles including our very own Electric vehicle, a Police divisional Van, Highway Patrol Motorcycles and BMW’s
  • CFA and SES vehicles
  • Viewing of the historic Ned Kelly cell
  • Coffee and doughnuts
  • Sausage sizzle by the Kyneton CFA
  • Forensic finger printing
  • Face painting for the kids
  • Opportunities to meet local police members and ask questions around recruiting and community policing
  • Water and hose activities with the CFA
