ENRICHMENT News

VHAP

We are proud to share that two of our students Jack and Harvey in 5/6B are close to completing the Victorian High‑Ability Program (VHAP) in English. Over the past weeks, they have participated in a one‑hour online session each week, exploring new writing techniques, deepening their understanding of language, and building confidence in their creative expression.

Their nomination and ongoing success reflect their hard work and passion for writing. Congratulations to both students as they reach the final stage of this enriching program.

GATEWAYS

We are pleased to share that a number of our students took part in the GATEWAYS Maths program this term at Footscray North Primary School. The program offered a rich series of hands‑on workshops where students explored challenging mathematical ideas, collaborated with peers from other schools, and extended their problem‑solving strategies. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school community.

Congratulations go to:

Elijah 1/2C “I like maths. I learnt that you could make patterns on paper with shapes. You can make multiple patterns. There were also some break times. We had 30 minutes of a cool down. We can use numbers to coordinate what the shape is going to be”.

Celine 1/2A “I liked the second class. We found out about maps and then we looked at where the treasure was and saw where the location was. At GATEWAYS it was challenging for me and I really liked that”.

Jasmine 3/4B “I really liked the first workshop with the Irish knots. They used the knots in China and Ireland a lot. I also liked the second workshop. We learnt how to read co-ordinates and we had fun”.

Brooklyn 3/4C “It was easy! The coordinates workshop was easy. I could tell where the answer was. I want to go there again as it was really easy, and I could do extra maths work”.

Theo 3/4B “it was really fun and there were a lot of different people there. There was this thing about fractals”.

Thomas 5/6B “I enjoyed learning what a fractal is”.
