MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Lots of Thank Yous!

Thanks to our families who attend the annual Family Maths Night! A big thanks goes out to our Maths Co-ordinator, Michael for leading the night! I found the night enjoyable, participating in some maths activities, with clear differentiated levels  from Prep to 6.

Thanks to our families for joining us for the Father’s Day / Special Person’s Celebration Morning.  It was heartwarming to see studnets enjoying some time in class with their dads, granddads or special persons, and also outside for some fun sports! Thanks to Marta Rodrigues, our Engagement Leader for facilitating the morning and a great Father’s Day stall. We raised a profit of $487 for the stall, which will go towards our 2026 fundraising goaI.  

Thanks to the families who purchased books from our Scholastic Book Fair during Book Week. We raised over $2000 in credits, so we will be able to purchase new texts for our library. 

Thanks to the families who attended the Term 3 Celebration of Learning. I am always so impressed with the quality of learning that the students produce, which is related to their termly Concept Curriculum Unit. Thanks to the staff for supporting the students preparing for this. 

VSBA Basketball Court and Soccer Pitch Opening: 

Finally! Once our new basketball court and soccer pitch opened, there was a flurry of excited students racing towards the back of the school.  I could hear the squeals of joy from the other side of the BER building. The students have been so active, playing soccer, basketball and gaga in the re-opened gaga pits. We have made a soccer timetable for the new soccer pitch and mini soccer pitch on the Green Space. 

Camps, Sleepovers and Swimming! 

Our Year 1 and 2 students participated in their Year 1 Extended Evening and Year 2 Sleepover‘c amp program’ in Week 9. The students enjoyed a night time disco activity and movie, and the Year 2 students further built their independence by sleeping over at school! Thanks to our Year 1/2 team and supporting staff for helping the event go smoothly. 

Speaking of camps, our Year 5/6 students are probably currently packing their bags for the 3 day camp to CYC Phillip Island on Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th. Our students have visited this camp before, so I am sure they will enjoy the adventure activities. 

Our Year 3/4  students have completed one week of their 9 day Swimming Program at Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC). 

Footy Colours Day-Tuesday 15th September

The Junior School Council have organised a Footy Colours Day this coming Tuesday 15th September. This means that students do not need to wear their school uniform, they can wear footy colours, jerseys, or any sports colours they wish. Please bring a gold coin donation to go towards our fundraising. 

End of Term Information: 

It is very hard to believe, however, Friday 18th September is the final day of Term 3. 

We will have a short assembly at 2:00p.m. Please note the early finish at 2:30p.m.

Term 4 will resume on Monday 5th October. 

2026 Parent and Caregiver Opinion Survey  - please complete the survey by Friday 18th

I have posted detailed instructions on Compass about accessing the 2026 Parent and Caregiver Opinion Survey. Your feedback is important to us, as it helps us further improve our school. The survey opens on Monday 17th August and closes on the last day of term, Friday 18th September. The survey is translatable into all the languages that our Dinjerra Community speaks at home. If you have any questions about the survey, please contact me.

So far we have had 23% of our families complete the survey. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, so please complete the survey if you have a spare 10 minutes. 

SOARing Students

Alexandra's Ballet Exam

Alexandra from 1/2B has shared with us some great acheivments in ballet. 

Alex, who attends Inner West Dance, recently completed her Cecchetti Grade 1 Ballet Examination, part of the internationally recognised Cecchetti ballet examination system, and achieved a Distinction, the second-highest result awarded. Congratulations Alex! 

Charli's Pigeon Racing and Football Award

As you may recall in previous newsletters, Charli won her first junior pigeon racing event a few weeks ago. She has shared with us the latest edition of the Pigeon Racing Journal, where she features on the front cover. 

Additionally, Carli received the Toughness and Resilience award from her Under 10 Girls Football team at Albion Football Club. What a purple patch, Charli, keep it up!
