The MCHF boys inter football team

It wasn’t the result that the boys were after, but the MCHF Inter Boys football/soccer team put up a great fight as they lost to Patrician Brothers at Blacktown Football Park, training grounds of the A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers. Anthony Mekary (Year 9) got off the mark this season with a penalty cooly converted into the bottom left corner. It’s only upward from here!

Throughout the term, all students participate in inter-house sports competitions, representing their house colours. The competitions not only get everyone fired up but also encourage teamwork, and School spirit.

Volleyball Challenge winners

The Dragons went through the whole Volleyball Challenge undefeated. A historic feat for our College in itself!!

Well done to Rafqa's Magpies for winning the girls volleyball semester one challenge.

The magpies defeated Gracie's Possums by two sets to nil and Congratulations to Jaden's Dragons who defeated John Maroun's Kangaroos by two sets to nil in the Boys Grand Final. Congratulations to all the contestants for a very intense but exciting tournament.

Inter Boys Football

In a well earnt victory, the MCHF Inter Boys (Year 9 and 10) football/soccer team defeated St Agnes a resounding 3-1 at Blacktown Football Park, training grounds for the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Coming into the game on the back of a narrow 3-2 loss last week, the boys were determined to make amends and get the precious victory as the season comes to a nearing conclusion.

Pushing a high line very early on, the pressure paid off as Charbel Khodeir was fouled in the box, with midfield maestro Adam Saab slotting away a penalty to give the lead to MCHF.

The boys battered the St Agnes goal in the first half, with shots from Gabriel Deeb and Mykal Abdou coming close but to no avail. The solid counters played out the back from pacy wing backs Daniel Azzi and Christian Kabalan helped the boys look for the elusive second goal, while James Akoury added much needed support on the wing.

Going into the break with the slender lead, the Blue and Golds pushed hard in the second half, thanks to Christian Ibrahim and Charbel Mouawad pulling the strings in the midfield. Striker Andrew Taouk went close to adding to the lead as his shot just sailed over the bar while Adam Saab smacked the crossbar with his cheeky attempt after dancing his way through the St Agnes defence.

The solid defending from Jonah Botros and Joseph Habib made it near impossible to break through, while Alex Hanania helped keep goalkeeper's Jason Azar's clean sheet up, as shot after shot was saved well by the glovesman.

Ultimately, Anthony Mekary added to his season's tally as the midfielder buried the ball past the St Agnes keeper to make it 2-0, while Charbel Khoudeir received a fantastic through ball to slot it in to make the three points safe at 3-0.

Despite the resolute defending, the boys conceded late in the second half from a corner but it was a mere consolation as MCHF left the ground with all three points back to Harris Park.
