The Exec Address

From the desks of Sr Margaret & Mr Asmar

Executive Principal Message

Dear MCHF Community,

As we draw to the end of another term and semester 1, I take this opportunity to thank all staff, students and parents/guardians for their combined efforts in supporting one another. We will only succeed as an educational community when we work to support each other and put in our best efforts.

Regarding our Masterplan I would like to provide you with a few updates:

  1. The renovation of H block (across the road) will be completed early September. Once we get the green light for occupation, we will be moving Kindy and Year 1 classes there.
  2. The current Kindy classes will become Y2 classrooms
  3. The spare classrooms will be refurnished to accommodate music rooms and teaching classrooms.
  4. The current block of units next to the grass area has now received Council DA approval. We have gone out to tenders, and we are hoping to soon commence demolition of the block of units to make way for a bigger temporary playground.
  5. We have had ongoing meetings with our architect and project manager to develop a whole school Masterplan that will be staged over 20 years. Watch this space!

Furthermore, over the last few weeks we have spent big money on College resources including:

  • An improved Wi-Fi access across the College
  • Stronger firewall to prevent cyberattacks
  • Purchasing new iPads and laptops for use by staff and students
  • New playground and gym equipment
  • Resources for classrooms
  • Professional Learning guest speakers for staff development
  • New furniture for classrooms

As you can see there are exciting times ahead and we look forward to developing a College with the best possible learning spaces for our students.

Wishing you a blessed and safe term break. I look forward to working with you all in term 3

Sr Margaret Ghosn

Executive Principal

Student Voice and Involvement in College Life

Recently, we have been providing opportunities for students to be involved further in the College life. It has been tremendous to see the amount of students becoming involved in the life of the College and making contributions in different ways. Below are some of the ways students have become involved in the College life:

  • Creating flyers and posts for events and social media platforms.
  • Writing articles and taking overall responsibility for the College newsletter.
  • Establishment of the photography club where students take photos of our events and activities.
  • Leading weekly assemblies.
  • Organisation of various College events including SRC, and Social Justice.

College Values Project Update

This term we launched the College Values project where we are working towards developing College based values that will reinforce our thoughts and actions at the College. We thank all the staff, students and parents who completed the first survey that was sent out recently. We are currently analysing the data and a second survey will be sent for feedback. We hope to launch the values in Term 3.
