Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

 Amen

As a Catholic school, the season of Lent is a deeply meaningful time for our community and forms an important focus of our Religious Education learning. During this season, students are invited to reflect on Jesus’ journey toward His death and resurrection and to consider how we can grow in faith through prayer, kindness, sacrifice and service to others.

Last week we marked several significant moments in the Church calendar. Our school gathered for Ash Wednesday, a special liturgy that begins the Lenten season and reminds us of the importance of reflection, renewal and turning our hearts toward God. Many of our classes have also begun learning about the practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which guide us through the weeks of Lent.

While this is a sacred and reflective time within our faith, it also comes at a moment when many of us feel saddened by the news of conflict and war around the world. As a faith community, we continue to pray for peace, compassion and understanding among all people.

We have also recently received the news that Fr Adi Indra will be moving on from our parish community. While we are saddened by this change, we are grateful for the time and care Fr Adi has shared with our school. At the same time, we feel very blessed that Fr Boniface will become our Supervising Priest. We look forward to building this connection and continuing to grow in faith together as we share the ongoing vision for St Mary’s.

Prayer for Peace

Loving God, You are the source of all peace and hope. In a world where there is conflict and war, help us to be people who bring kindness, understanding and compassion to others.

Guide leaders to make wise decisions that bring justice and healing to our world. Comfort those who are suffering and strengthen those who work for peace.

May our hearts always seek love over hatred and unity over division. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
