Greatness Beyond the Gates

At Valkstone Primary, we love celebrating the many ways our students shine beyond the school gates. Each week, we hear stories of children achieving wonderful things in sport, the arts, community service, and personal passions — and we couldn’t be prouder. This page is dedicated to honouring those moments and recognising the commitment, courage, and enthusiasm our students show in the wider world.

Valkstone Students at the LAVic State Athletics Championships

Over the long weekend, several of our students competed in the LAVic State Athletics Championships, and they achieved some outstanding results! We are incredibly proud of their determination, sportsmanship and remarkable performances, which included personal bests, club records and even State Champion titles.

Ollie C. (Year 4) – U9

State Champion – 70-m (PB)
State Champion – 100-m (PB)
State Champion – Long Jump (PB and Club Record)
2nd – 200-m
6th – Shotput

Neve C. – U11

State Champion – Javelin
2nd – Shot Put

Cam C. (Year 6) – U12

4th – Shot Put (PB and Club Record)
7th – Discus

We also extend a huge congratulations to Cam, who has been selected for Team VIC to compete at the National Championships in Brisbane this April. He will be representing Victoria in the U12 Boys shot put — an incredible achievement!

Team VIC selection is only open to U12 and U13 athletes, but with the talent and commitment Ollie and Neve continue to show, we have no doubt they’ll be joining the team in the years ahead.
