A message from Mr Renshaw

SchoolBytes - Transition to Family Communication
From Term 3, Hurstville Public School will transition from School eNews to SchoolBytes as our main platform for communicating with families.
This change will help streamline communication for parents and carers, bringing more school information into one platform. For the remainder of Term 2, we will continue using School eNews and SchoolBytes as we prepare for the transition. From Term 3, School eNews will no longer be used.
Thank you for your support as we work towards a more consistent and efficient communication process for our school community.
Healthy Lunchbox Reminder
A healthy lunchbox helps children stay energised, focused and ready to learn throughout the school day. Families are encouraged to pack a balanced lunchbox with foods from the everyday food groups, including breads and cereals, vegetables and salads, fruit, dairy or alternatives, meat or alternatives, and water. Small swaps can make a big difference.
The attached Snack Swaps guide reminds us that choosing everyday foods instead of “sometimes” foods can support children’s mood, attention span and behaviour.
When packing lunchboxes, please also be mindful of foods that may present allergy or choking risks, particularly for younger children. Thank you for supporting healthy eating habits at school.

Attendance reminder
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting regular school attendance. Attending school every day, arriving on time, and keeping the school informed about absences all help support student wellbeing and learning.
Parents and carers are asked to:
- enrol their child in school once they reach compulsory school age
- ensure their child attends school every day and arrives on time
- provide an explanation for any absence within 7 days via note, phone, email, Seesaw or in person
- provide a medical certificate, where possible, for absences of 3 or more consecutive days
- provide a verbal or written explanation for late arrivals - these are recorded as partial absences
- sign their child in at the office if arriving after 9:00 am
- sign their child out at the office before 3:00 pm if leaving early, and provide a reason - this is also recorded as a partial absence
- note that there is no playground supervision before 8:30 am
- avoid travel during school term where possible.
