Community Language

What a fantastic term it has been in Community Languages! Our Stage 3 students have been working hard to build their language skills, and the energy and enthusiasm in both Spanish and Chinese classes have been truly inspiring. This term's theme — Occupations — has opened up rich conversations about the future, careers, and the world of work, all through the lens of two wonderful languages.

Spanish students have been diving deep into the vocabulary of las profesiones (occupations) this term. The classroom has been buzzing with activity as students matched, sorted, and practised their new words through a range of hands-on games.

Chinese students have been exploring 现在的职业 — Occupations at the Present. The focus this term has been on the role of the AI Engineer (人工智能工程师), and the writing in students' notebooks has been beautifully neat and detailed.

Students have been working on copying and practising new vocabulary in their notebooks — writing both the Chinese characters and their English translations. The quality of handwriting has been outstanding this term, with students demonstrating growing confidence and accuracy with complex characters.

It has been wonderful to see Stage 3 students engaging so thoughtfully with both languages this term. Whether they were sorting occupation cards in Spanish or writing detailed paragraphs about AI engineers in Chinese, every student has shown real commitment to their language learning journey.
