Working in groups, students created innovative solutions such as a mental‑health AI, clean‑water AI, helper robots, and a smart waste system. In the afternoon, families visited to hear confident presentations, which were filmed for a national competition.

The day showcased impressive creativity, teamwork, and curiosity, and all students should be proud of their achievements.

Well done to all involved!

On Tuesday, our Year 3 and 4 students stepped into a FIFA World Cup themed Maths challenge! Students from six schools worked collaboratively in teams to solve five exciting challenges, crack secret codes and apply their mathematical thinking under pressure. It was fantastic to see students sharing strategies, building confidence and celebrating success together throughout an action packed day of learning!

This week’s word is innovate (or innovation), which means to create new ideas or find different ways of doing things. It’s all about being creative and thinking in ways that can improve how we learn, work, and solve problems. Innovation is a valuable skill that can be used every day at school and beyond.

Examples of innovation:

  • trying a new strategy when you’re stuck on a maths problem
  • finding a creative way to complete a task or project
  • working with others to come up with fresh ideas
  • using trial and error to solve a problem in a different way

Innovation helps us grow as learners and encourages us to think outside the box!

This week brought two wins to the cluster debating season, and our students rose to the occasion with enthusiasm and skill. We’re delighted to share that both of our teams achieved a double win, showcasing not only strong arguments but also impressive teamwork and sportsmanship. The affirmative team travelled to Sacred Heart, while the negative team remained at Holy Family to debate against Sacred Heart’s visiting group. Despite being in different locations, both teams demonstrated excellent preparation and confidence as they tackled the week’s topic: ‘It is okay to break a rule if that rule is unfair.’ Throughout the rounds, our debaters presented thoughtful cases, delivered clear rebuttals, and supported one another with genuine cooperation. Their growing debating skills were evident in every speech. We also extend our congratulations to the students from Sarcred, who contributed strong, well‑reasoned arguments and helped make each debate engaging and competitive. We are incredibly proud of all students involved,  not only for the wins, but for the maturity, respect, and dedication they brought to the experience. With such a strong beginning, we look forward to seeing what next week brings. Wish us luck as we continue the season.

Well done to all involved!
