2026 Upstanders

Each year Grade Five students at Hampton Primary School have an opportunity to be a part of a leadership program, which is connected to the wider community. This program is called The Upstanders and has been running for 12 years, consisting of 4 Bayside schools (Beaumaris P.S, Brighton Beach P.S, Hampton P.S, Sandringham P.S) and is heavily supported by the Bayside City Council.

Students who wish to become an Upstander undertake a leadership application process and get accepted to be in the program which runs between Terms 2-4.

Together, they investigate the social and emotional needs of the school community and work cohesively to disseminate prosocial messages. We are very passionate about our cause and continue to make Bayside a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for our youth.

Each year the students will be a part of a community project which has a theme. This year's theme is Empathy. To launch the program and connect with our partner schools, students will attend a forum with a guest speaker and are invited to upskill their knowledge on social and emotional learning and exercise their creative talents in spreading positive messages throughout our community.

Below are some photos from our first session held at Hampton P.S, where all Upstanders were able to get to know one another and begin building the foundations for making an incredible 2026 team.

Education Week: 'Showcase Your School' - Wellbeing: Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Curriculum

For this year's Education Week Hampton Primary School invited our parent community into our classrooms to showcase facets of our Wellbeing curriculum.

Each year level took a different focus depending on what they felt was most important to showcase for the parent community respective to their year level. Some of these sessions were facilitated as an exhibition and others as a lesson, where explicit teaching occurred where engaging activities were facilitated.
