Parent PL: Cyber Safety at HPS

Inform and Empower provide the backbone and professional learning for our cyber safety at HPS. A key component of using this platform is its ability to strengthen the partnership between what happens at school and home by providing teacher professional learning and resourcing, as well as parent professional learning and resourcing with similar foci, vocabulary and strategies to use. I encourage you to review (if you haven’t already) the one-pagers below of what your child has participated in (or will participate in) this term and how you can support at home.

World Education Support Staff Day

On Monday 18 May we recognised World Education Support Staff Day and acknowledged the important contribution our Education Support staff make to the life of our school. Our Education Support staff work closely with students, teachers and parents every day, supporting learning programs, individual student needs and the smooth running of the school. Their care, patience and professionalism help create the calm, inclusive and supportive environment we value so highly at Hampton. Much of their work happens quietly behind the scenes, however the impact they have across our school community is significant and greatly appreciated. On behalf of our students, staff and families, thank you for all that you do for Hampton Primary School.

Enrolments

Enrolments for 2027 are now open, and close at the end of July. This year the process is different with a statewide shift to an online platform. For all information, links and the like, please visit our website via the button below, or simply pop into the office for any questions or support.

Updated Policies

We are regularly updating policies at our school to ensure they align with requirements and reflect current best practice. These are updated anywhere from annually to every four years depending on the most appropriate cycle for review and cover many functions of our school. We have approximately 50 policies that cover everything from privacy, to class placement, camps, medication, leadership selection, yard duty and more. For the 35 most relevant and referenced policies, please refer to our website where they are all accessible.

Recently, School Council has reviewed and endorsed the following policies which are all available to view here on our website.

  • Complaints Policy
  • Visitors in School Policy
  • Volunteers Policy
  • Child Safety Code of Conduct

While much of these are heavily templated, we do seek to ensure they reflect our context and processes and welcome any feedback that you may have with regard to them. We will continue to keep you updated via the newsletter of further policies that are reviewed.

Walkways

To support good ‘traffic flow’, please be mindful of tight areas in our school where we see a concentration of movement at the start and end of the school day. Particularly the area between the art room and the office can become busy and congested and so we kindly ask that people don’t mingle in these spaces as they move through them; thank you!

New & Important Dates

New and important dates will now have their own page on the newsletter. Whilst this will give some insight into what is upcoming, it is not an exhaustive list and therefore we remind families to ensure you check the calendar and all Compass communications around events that are upcoming. A reminder that you can subscribe to it so that it syncs with your calendar via the link below.

Celebrations: Chinese Talent Competition State Winners

Huge congratulations to our Grade 5 and 6 students who won the Victorian Chinese Talent Competition last Friday. Students performed a wonderful combination of dancing, drumming and Tai Chi moves throughout a choreographed performance, taking out the title for the second year running. This is a wonderful endorsement of our Mandarin program and Arts program, underscoring the dedication and talent of our teachers, particularly Jeffic Ye and Alison Powell in this instance. Well done to all participants! Please see the Specialists page of this edition for more information.
