Howdy all,

Though Term 2 is coming to a close, the performers at Trinity have spent their time this term gradually gearing up for the school concert in Term 3 (get excited! Wooo!).

Students have focused on transferring the collaborative ensemble skills they cultivated in Term 1 to the movement and dance activities they engaged in this term. These activities introduced students to the skills and practices they will participate in during next term, when we begin rehearsals for the school concert. Let’s take a look:

In Prep, students worked together to play dance games that focused on safe movement, balance, and using the rhythm and mood of a song to guide the transformation of fundamental movements (such as walking, stretching, and jumping)into dancerly movements.

In Year 1/2, students continued to practise safe movement while combining locomotor and non-locomotor movement to form steps that they could repeat and teach to otherstudents.

In Year 3/4, students participated in a series of activities that concluded with them working together in small groups to create short dance sequences that showcased levels and three different dynamics (sustained, percussive, and swinging).

Year 5/6 students utilised the Chance Method to begin a short sequence of choreography before building on it by incorporating levels, dynamics, and changing formations. They created a range of dance sequences inspired by cotton candy, fire, and pasta.

There was a big turn out for concert auditions this year: 46 eager performers auditioned to take on more responsibility in this year’s school concert! Very proud of the courage and talent shown by every student who had a go at delivering their audition monologue.
