WPS Community Children’s Garden

What a HUGE start to the year for Garden Club!

We hit a new record number of Garden Club attendees – 66!

A total of 120 students attended Garden Club over the last two weeks. Many of these students are foundation and junior school students, so going through our garden club rules and learning how to put on gloves then fold them together at the end, are an important part of the learning. Luckily, we have had several senior students helping out with this each week.

Over the last fortnight we have:

  • pulled out finished summer veg and spread seeds for Autumn veg.

  • learned about flowers -> pollination -> seeds, and spent time sitting in the cool shade making seed packets, collecting seeds from the garden and labelling our packets.

At the end of each session we raided the cultivated blackberry crop - a deliciously healthy highlight for everyone. Sorry to parents whose kids have come home with red stained hands and clothing, and teachers who have red juice colouring their classrooms.
