Cubs Club

What is Cubs Club?
This year, Donvale Primary School has been fortunate to collaborate with the Lions Club, and we now have our very own Cubs Club! The Cubs Club works together to brainstorm fundraising ideas that support communities in need. We partner with a member of the Lions Club, Pat, who helps bring our ideas to life.
Membership:
We are currently at capacity for members, and at this stage we will not be taking on any new members. Please look out for membership details for 2026.
Non-Perishable Food Drive – Thursday, 18th September:
As part of our upcoming fundraiser, we are collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Doncare, a local charity supporting families in need. We kindly ask each student to bring one item to school next week - Thursday, 18th September.
During Sessions 3 and 4, each grade will take their food items outside to contribute to a special line of donations we’ll be creating together.
Please note: Food should only be brought in on the day – not before.
Some examples of non-perishable food include: canned food, jars of food, pasta, rice, lentils, oats, noodles, flour, sugar, salt, spices, tea, coffee, long life milk, dried fruit, crackers, biscuits, nut butters, spreads, juice boxes, toilet paper or tissues.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
Certificate of Appreciation:
We are proud to have received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of our outstanding efforts in collecting bread tags.
The certificate was signed by Thomas Edwards, who coordinates the collection on behalf of Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs. Thomas is also a valued member of the Melbourne All Abilities Lions Club.
We’re honoured to be part of this meaningful initiative that supports both environmental sustainability and access to mobility equipment.
Our last session:
During our last meeting on the 4th September, we had a conversation about our upcoming Food Drive and the roles each of us will have on the day. We also had some fun with a little ball and maze game. We only had 5 minutes to get the ball to the middle of the disc. Most of us got it within a few seconds!

Cubs Club Induction:
On Friday 25th July, all Cubs Club members were inducted into the Lions Club. The members read out the clubs ethics and purpose, and they all agreed to abide by these whilst in the Cubs Club. The students were each given a badge, certificate and a goodie bag to officially welcome them into the club. We're all so excited for this journey in working together, making new friends and supporting communities in need.
Stamps and Bread Tags:
The Cubs Club has come up with two exciting fundraising opportunities. We asked the Donvale Community to collect stamps (new or used) and bread tags (these can be plastic or cardboard) to help raise money in providing wheelchairs for less fortunate communities. In Term 2, we collected 2,870 plastic bread tags, 257 cardboard bread tags and just over 50 stamps!
If you have any to donate, there are two collection boxes located at the school office. We are going to continue this fundraising initiative for the remainder of the year.
We truly appreciate your support—and we know the communities we’re helping will too.
