Burford House

We are Saaya and Sofia, and we are the Burford Captains for 2024/25. It has honestly been so exciting to start things off this term and see all the great collaborations happening within and across our various houses. A huge part of our first area of focus has been coming together to develop our house stories, values and symbols, to help create new shields and mottos for each of the College houses.

While we’re excited for the carnivals next year, it’s been important to reflect on some of the values Chevalier College and Burford House are built upon as we start our time as captains. For us, learning about our house history based on our founding MSCs with Fr John and Mrs Esposito’s input has been instrumental, as have the house meetings we’ve had to listen and respond to these stories, and refine our values. It has all been so helpful for our team-based approach to designing our shield and motto and unifying as a house.

We are nearly at the end of the creative process and can honestly say that each member of Burford has engaged in the process and has had an opportunity to contribute to this exciting new piece of history that we are about to make. This has all been led by our wonderful new Leader of House, Mrs White and supported by our amazing Home Room teachers. We can’t wait to see the shields and mottos added to the house banners for next year.

As a final note, watch out Riversdale in next year's CAPA performance for the House song and dance competition… Burford will be ready to go!
