Principal's Report
Tim Furphy, Principal
It has continued to be a wonderful start to the term, and I am pleased to see how well our students have been settling into their routines. Classrooms are buzzing with collaboration and enthusiasm and our students have shown our values. The beginning of the year has been heavily weighted to developing routines, building a positive classroom environment and gaining momentum to delve deeper into learning as the term progresses.
Parent–teacher meetings have been a valuable and positive experience this week. It is encouraging to see the family engagement and open communication between home and school. These conversations play an important role in supporting each child’s growth. If you were unable to attend but would like to discuss anything with your childs teacher please get in touch.
As stated at assembly last week, we have a curriculum day upcoming on Tuesday 10th March. While there will be no students on site, staff will be here completing some professional development around the Department of Educations new teaching and learning model, as well as a deep dive into our Literacy curriculum.
LUNCHTIME CLUBS
Lunchtime clubs happen each 2nd half of lunch. Todays was gardening club, any more interested students out there? We also have coding club to begin next week, choir, drawing/colouring and play dough/building.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSION
Following conversations with families this week at our parent and teacher meetings, we have decided a parent information session could be useful to share how things are done at NPS. In the coming days a Google Form will come out asking for feedback on the things you'd like to hear about, as well as potential timeslots for this happening. We hope this is a beneficial event for us to share the research behind our practice, and why we believe it's best for our kids.
COMMUNICATION
Please continue to use Compass Connect (messenger function) on Compass for communication between families and teachers. See below photo, highlited icon for messaging. Narelle in the office is also there to support your admin questions.

VISITING THE CLASSROOMS
Please know that we'd love you to visit the classrooms with your child(ren) before or after school - they're open from 8.45am in the morning. Staff are in meetings Monday/Tuesday at 3.45. We really do hope to see some faces checking in!
MULTI-PURPOSE COURT
At School council the decision was made to remove the $66 membership fee for use of our courts, and instead open it freely for all members of our comunity. It is a great resource to have for the Newham township, we'd love to see it used more regularly. Hopefully this encourages people both within our school and wider community to have shared space for a range of sports and activities over the weekends.
