What a fantastic day of netball!
The team demonstrated impressive sportsmanship and growth throughout the games. We saw a great team effort, with each player gaining valuable experience and showing notable improvement.
A big shoutout to Rebecca Tarrant for her excellent umpiring and for assisting Hilary Pearson with coaching the girls. It was a pleasure to work with such a dedicated group.
The results saw ASC with a win against Inverell and a close loss to Glen Innes.
Thank you to Payge Peterson and Kim Kelly for setting up the den and making the day run smoothly.
Congratulations to Luke Whitty and Lucy Deiderick!
Luke Whitty and Lucy Deiderick represented Armidale Secondary College at the Under 15 National All Schools Hockey Championships on the Gold Coast. We're thrilled to announce that both students have been named in the Australian Under 15s All Schools teams - a truly incredible achievement!
Luke Whitty's Achievements: Luke brought home a gold medal after an intense final against Queensland. Despite QLD taking an early 2-0 lead, the NSW boys showed remarkable resilience. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leading to a nail-biting penalty shootout where NSW emerged victorious! Throughout the week, Luke was awarded two Player of the Match awards and received the prestigious Coaches' Award at the conclusion of the competition. His team went undefeated through the round games, only drawing with QLD after winning all other matches. Congratulations, Luke, on this outstanding achievement!
Lucy Deiderick's Achievements: Lucy claimed a bronze medal in a dramatic match that was tied 1-1 with just ten seconds remaining. NSW was awarded a penalty stroke, which Lucy expertly converted, securing a 2-1 victory for NSW and the bronze medal!
Lucy was the 3rd highest overall goal scorer of the championship and served as the co-captain for the NSW girls' team. Her leadership and skill were truly inspiring throughout the competition.
To top it all off: Both Luke and Lucy have been selected for the Australian Under 15 All Schools Hockey teams! This is an incredible milestone, and Armidale Secondary College is so proud of you both. Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we can't wait to see all the amazing things you will achieve in the future.
