Grade 5 Kidpreneurs at Foodbank!

This term, our Grade 5 students kicked off this year’s Kidpreneur Program with an exciting excursion to Foodbank Victoria. The visit provided students with the opportunity to connect with the charity they will be supporting throughout the program and learn more about the important work it does to support communities across Victoria.

Throughout the excursion, students participated in an interactive learning experience, including a hands-on activity and a tour of Foodbank Victoria’s operations. They discovered how food is collected and distributed to people and families in need, while developing a deeper understanding of food insecurity, sustainability and the importance of community action.

The visit also helped students understand the purpose behind their participation in the Kidpreneur Program. Throughout the program, students will work collaboratively to design, develop and sell their own products, using their creativity and entrepreneurial skills to raise funds for Foodbank Victoria. The experience provided a meaningful connection between their learning and the positive difference they can make in the wider community, demonstrating how even small ideas can have a big impact.

Student reflections:

  • I loved how everything was placed in the warehouse, and I like how they work with organisations and over 1,500 schools. - Bilal
  • I enjoyed how when we went to Foodbank to learn about how we're helping through Kidpreneur. I learned that there's over 7,000 palettes in the warehouse and 750 in the fridge. - Isla
  • We learned about what families might need and what foods can be packed to feed a family of 4. - Ekin
