Dear Families,

Welcome back to the final term for 2026! Where has the time gone? It feels like we only just welcomed all the Preps into our community, but in reality they are almost Grade 1s - and we're preparing ourselves to welcome the next lot of little ones into their schooling adventure!

All those oversized Grade 6 jumpers from the start of the year are now fitting perfectly as our Grade 6s entered their final term of Primary School. If you have been at Albanvale PS for a while you may be familiar with the program we run for our Grade 6s in Term 4 - getting them as prepared for high school as possible and celebrating their successes from their time here at Albanvale PS.

Our Grade 6s, led by Ms Stevenson and Ms Langdon, started their Term 4 with the introduction of lockers and combination locks - a steep learning curve which has for the most part been mastered. In the classroom they have been getting used to a varied timetable with different teachers leading different subject lessons, as well as the introduction of electives! You can see the efforts of our Food Tech students further on in the newsletter.

Our Grade 5s, meanwhile, have been channeling their inner business mogul, starting their Kidpreneur projects. This term long project sees students work in pairs to design, make and market a product to sell at the Altona Beach Market in December. All money raised from their efforts go to Foodbank Victoria, with the Grade 5 students, Mr Rossi and Ms Raval visiting last week to see the impact their donations will make.

It's not just the Grade 5 and 6s getting in on the new experiences this term. We are really excited to start offering after school activities for various year levels, with Mr Suarez coaching girls volleyball and boys soccer and Mr Rouse leading an introduction to music instruments and a choir. The groups for these activities have been finalised, but keep an eye on Compass for any opportunties which may arise in the future.

As Mr Uzunovski mentioned in the last newsletter there are some temporary staff changes this term for a variety of reasons, though the most exciting reason was Mr Katiforis going on parental leave. We are happy to announce the arrival of Harrison George. It's safe to say Mum and Dad are smitten, and we can't wait for him to visit us once he's a bit bigger!

Term 4 SunSmart in School

SunSmart Policy has come into play at all Victorian schools. This means all students must wear a wide-brimmed hat to school for all outside activities, be it playing in the yard, excursions or PE. You can read more about Albanvale's SunSmart Policy further in the newsletter. I'm aware, like all school uniforms, there is a tendency for hats to get misplaced so please make sure they are clearly labelled with your child's name

2027 Enrolments and Planning

Planning for 2027 is well underway. We would appreciate if you could inform our Office Team as soon as possible if your child is leaving Albanvale PS at the end of this year. This will support us in ensuring we can organise a thorough transistion process for your child with their new school, and also begin contacting families who have expressed interest in joining us next year.

With Prep enrolments for 2027 almost full, we are now accepting pre-enrolments of students across all other year levels in 2027. Very limited places are available in most year levels, so families are encouraged to submit a pre-enrolment as soon as possible to secure their place. If you know a family who you think would contribute to our community of excellence, encourage them to reach out today to find out more information or arrange a school tour.
