Term 4 – Let the Fun Begin!

We’ve made it to the final term of the year, and what an exciting term it’s shaping up to be! Term 4 is always a busy one, filled with special events, learning, assessments and plenty of fun. The students are already looking forward to some exciting upcoming events, including our Remembrance Day Ceremony, the Oatlands School Fete and the Annual Dance Production. There’s certainly lots to look forward to!

English

We kicked off the term by sharing our personal opinions and exploring the exciting world of persuasive writing. Students have been learning how to clearly express their opinions and support them with strong, convincing reasons. We’ve had lots of fun debating whether one thing is better than another, using exaggerated examples and creative arguments to persuade others to see our point of view. There have been some very passionate opinions and plenty of great discussions along the way!

Mathematics

We’ve been putting our maths skills to the test with some real-life money challenges! Students have explored the four operations through activities such as creating budgets, going shopping, adding up purchases, calculating change and working out how much money they have left to spend. We’ve also been exploring multiplication and division, with a focus on using a variety of strategies to solve problems. From drawing arrays and skip counting to using fact families and sharing items equally, students are discovering that there’s more than one way to find an answer. It’s wonderful to see their confidence growing as they become more flexible and creative mathematical thinkers!

Students have also been consolidating their understanding of the maths concepts taught throughout the year through our daily review sessions. Our Halloween-themed activities were a particular highlight, providing a fun and engaging way to revisit key concepts while also completing formal assessments. The students have shown fantastic persistence, creativity and determination, and we’re so proud of the progress they continue to make!

Integrated Studies

This term, our Integrated Studies unit is all about Connections! Students are exploring how people connect to places and how places are connected to one another. Each student has chosen a special place to research, investigating its location, features, weather, seasons and distance from home. They are also learning to use maps to explore where their special place is in the world and how they might travel there. It’s been wonderful to see students sharing the stories, experiences and personal connections that make their chosen places so meaningful to them.

With so much happening this term, we’re looking forward to a fantastic finish to the year, full of learning, laughter and wonderful memories!
