Sunday Gospel Reading

This coming Sunday, 31st August, the Gospel Reading is taken from Luke 14:1,7-14. Jesus talks about doing good deeds for others and expecting nothing in return. Click on the link above and read aloud the Gospel to your family.

Ask your children how they would feel if you told them to take on more chores without ever expecting another raise in allowance. Emphasize that Jesus teaches us that it is our duty as his followers to take care of the needs of others and to do so without expecting repayment. Discuss what other types of rewards we can find when doing good things for others.

Point out that we sometimes fall into the trap of wanting too many things and that, in the Our Father, we pray for “our daily bread,” meaning that we pray for only that which we really need in life. Conclude this time together by praying aloud the Our Father.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH?

At the Parish of St Augustine’s, Corpus Christi and Annunciation we welcome people who are searching for spiritual meaning in their lives or for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. The RCIA is a process of discernment and learning for those who are not baptised and wanting to find out more about Catholic faith and for those already baptised in another Christian tradition who now desire to further their faith journey with the Catholic Church.

A new group will begin early September. If you would like further information about joining us, please contact Fr Werner or the Parish Office.@ yarraville@cam.org.au
