A Farewell to Sandy Faulkner 💚💛💐

At the end of last term, we farewelled Sandy after almost 17 years of dedicated service to the Montmorency Primary School community.

Sandy joined MPS at a very different point in our school's history. With enrolments of just 74 students, limited resources and an uncertain future, the school looked very different to the vibrant learning community we know today. Over the years, she has witnessed the transformation of our school and has been a valued contributor throughout that journey.

As an Education Support staff member, Sandy has worked alongside countless students, always bringing compassion, patience and a genuine commitment to helping every child succeed. She continually sought opportunities to build her knowledge and skills, ensuring she could provide the very best support to the students in her care. The positive impact she has had on students, families and colleagues over the years cannot be overstated.

What has always stood out about Sandy is her unwavering dedication to children. She has approached her work with kindness, professionalism and a deep belief in the importance of supporting every student to thrive. Her contribution to our school community has been significant, and her presence will be greatly missed.

On behalf of the entire MPS community, I would like to sincerely thank Sandy for her years of service, care and commitment. We wish her every happiness in the next chapter and thank her for the role she has played in helping create the Monty Magic we enjoy today.

Families, former students and community members who would like to join us in celebrating Sandy's contribution are warmly invited to attend our school assembly on Friday, 31 July,at 9.10am in The Discovery Centre, where we will come together to give her a well-deserved farewell.

Our MPS Comedy Night was a fantastic evening filled with laughter, connection and incredible community spirit. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, sponsors and volunteers, we raised just almost $20,000 to support future opportunities for our students, including the potential oval upgrade.

A special thank you goes to the businesses and organisations who generously supported the event. Their contributions helped make the evening such a success, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of our school community.

Nicks Negozio Fundraiser Returns! 🍝🛒

Following the fantastic success of last year's fundraiser, we're excited to once again partner with Nick's Negozio to offer families the opportunity to stock up on delicious and high quality frozen meals while supporting our school.

Most importantly, 20% of every order placed will be donated directly back to us, helping to support future school initiatives and opportunities for our students. Keep an eye out for a Compass feed on Monday which will explain the online ordering process, the dates for orders to be placed and collection information.

Bikes, Scooters and Road Safety 🚲🛴

A reminder to families to please reinforce safe and appropriate bike and scooter use with your children before and after school. At school, we regularly remind students about safe travel practices and the importance of being respectful road users and pedestrians. To ensure these messages have the greatest impact, we ask families to continue these conversations at home and reinforce the same expectations.

I continue to receive feedback from members of our community regarding students riding bikes and scooters along Were Street during the afternoon peak period. With large numbers of pedestrians, families and vehicles moving through the area at this time, riding on the footpath can create safety concerns for everyone.

We ask that students walk their bikes and scooters along Were Street when travelling to and from school. Alternatively, students who wish to ride should consider using quieter streets and routes where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

2027 Foundation Enrolments 🎒🏫

A final reminder to current families that enrolment requests for Foundation 2027 are now being accepted at the school office and close on Friday, 31 July. We encourage families with a child starting school in 2027 to submit their enrolment request as soon as possible to assist with our planning for the year ahead.
