Italian

In our last two lessons, our Year 1/2 students travelled around Italy with La macchinetta rossa (The Little Red Car). As they followed the little red car's adventure, they learnt new Italian words and discovered some of Italy's most famous landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the canals of Venice, Mount Vesuvius and the traditional tarantella dancers in Sicily. Students enjoyed the challenge of finding each of these places on a map and connecting the dots to show the journey from the south to the north.

They explored real-life photographs of the historical landmarks and shared their thoughts as we talked about the history, geography and culture of these special places. They were particularly fascinated by Mt Vesuvius.
