The Feast of All Saints and All Souls

As we move through November, we take a moment to reflect on two special celebrations in our Catholic calendar: the Feast of All Saints on the 1st of November and All Souls' Day on the 2nd of November. November is also traditionally dedicated as the Month of the Holy Souls, a time when we are especially encouraged to remember and pray for those who have died. These celebrations are an important part of our Catholic tradition and provide an opportunity for us to remember, honour and celebrate those who have gone before us, as well as reflect on the special place they hold in our faith.

The Feast of All Saints celebrates all the saints, both known and unknown, who have lived lives of faith and love, who are now with God in heaven. It is an opportunity to reflect on the great examples they have set for us and how we can follow in their footsteps through our own actions, kindness and love for others.

All Souls' Day is a day when we remember and pray for all those who have died, including our

family members, friends and loved ones. It reminds us of the importance of keeping their memories alive and of the hope and promise of eternal life that is central to our Christian faith.

Together, these two celebrations remind us that we are all connected through our faith, as part of God's family. They encourage us to celebrate the lives of those who inspire us, remember those we love and continue to live out our faith through the way we care for and love one another.

Growing Together: Welcoming Our 2027 Foundation Families

Today we welcomed our 2027 Foundation families for our second Parent Community Conversation, Listening, Belonging and Growing in Faith Together. The session was an opportunity for parents and carers to connect, share their family stories, backgrounds, traditions and hopes for their children as they prepare to begin their school journey with us.

There was a little hesitation in the room at first, with the thought of sharing personal stories perhaps feeling a little daunting for some. However, it wasn't long before the room was filled with conversation, laughter and a genuine willingness to listen and share. What began with some uncertainty soon grew into a lovely sense of connection and community.

Through our conversations, families explored the values and traditions they hope to pass on to

their children and their hopes for their child's journey at school. We finished by inviting parents to write a hope, wish or prayer for their child on a leaf, which will become part of our Foundation Tree – Growing Together display.

I look forward to bringing together the hopes and dreams of our 2027 Foundation families for their children and displaying them in our Foundation building as a reminder of the love, hopes and aspirations that surround each child as they begin this new chapter.

A big thank you to all the families who joined us and contributed so openly. It was a beautiful reminder that building a strong community starts with listening, sharing and getting to know one another.

Together, we look forward to growing a community where every child and family feels welcomed, valued and a sense of belonging.
