It’s Rocket Science Incursion 

2026 National Science Week theme: Seeds of Science - Nurturing Knowledge for All.

On Monday 24 August 2026, Gundy State was excited to welcome Cran Middlecoat to our school as part of our continued Science learning for National Science Week.

Students from Prep to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6 participated in separate sessions filled with excitement, curiosity and plenty of hands-on learning. Cran shared fascinating information about the history of rockets and how they have developed over time, before demonstrating a range of rocket launches inside the hall.

The excitement reached new heights during the big finale—an outdoor rocket launch! Students watched in amazement as the rocket soared approximately 200 metres into the sky.

As an added bonus, Goondiwindi State School was able to keep the two outdoor rockets used during the incursion, providing students with a fantastic resource to continue exploring and learning about rockets and Science in the classroom.
