Year 10 Happenings
Year Ten’s are well settled into their semester two subjects now and it has been pleasing to see them continue to engage with their teachers, peers and the content being delivered. As students move into their last semester before Year 11, it’s important they work to embed the routines and expectations they wish to carry into next year. Attentively listening in class, asking questions and seeking clarification where required, setting and working to timelines, establishing or cementing in home study routines and managing the work/life balance should all be focused on in an effort to see what works best.
This is an exciting term for students as they make some decisions regarding their pathways beyond this year. Whilst some students have set and/or defined ideas of what they wish to study both at school and beyond, it is perfectly normal for other students to have little or no idea. Ensuring you keep your options open is important to accommodate any change of mind in this space.
To help students with their subject selections, all Year 10 students attended an informative course selection assembly last week.
Please note that Web preferences will open at recess on Wednesday 29th July (Week three)
All students will receive their course counselling One on One session during Week four.
On Wednesday 9th August (Week 5), Web Preferences will close at 3pm.
Please encourage your Year 10 student to speak with any staff that may help them with particular subject information. Students (and their families) are also able to contact our Pathways team directly should they desire.
Our School Dress Code Policy has recently changed and we again, would like to congratulate the students who have positively taken on board these changes.
Key information to remember are-:
Students out of uniform must approach their student manager for a uniform pass.
Please no blending of academic and sports uniform.
Hoodies are not an acceptable item. These must be left in student lockers.
PE tracksuit pants must be Navy Blue

We look forward to the Year 10 cohort continuing this term, as they have begun.

Year 10 Student Managers
Student applications for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program are now open.
This flagship academic enrichment program is open to current Year 10 students from all Victorian and select interstate border schools, offering access to exclusive University events and academic enrichment activities for two years.
The Program Committee is committed to selecting one eligible student from each participating school. See attached flyer for more information about the program.

What are they looking for?
The selection panel will consider:
• Your academic performance – you should be in the top 5 percent of students in your year level at your school
• Your leadership potential – you must be able to demonstrate evidence of leadership, active citizenship and community involvement.
